Use of Could have / Could have का English Grammar में प्रयोग
Could have का प्रयोग उन हिंदी वाक्यों में किया जाता है जिनके अंत में “सकता था, सकती थी, सकते थे आदि” आता है. इस तरह के हिंदी वाक्यों का पहचानने का सबसे सरल उपाय ये है कि-
ये वाक्य इंगित करते हैं कि करता के अन्दर इस काम को करने की शक्ति थी लेकिन काम नहीं किया गया.
जिस हिंदी वाक्य की क्रिया के अंत में “सकता था, सकती थी, सकते थे” लिखा रहता है, उस क्रिया का अनुवाद Could have में होगा.
सभी Subjects के साथ Could have का प्रयोग किया जाता हैं.
Rules:
Subject + could + have + V³ + Obj.

संकेत : शक्ति थी लेकिन काम नहीं किया गया
Rule : Sub + could have + V3 + Obj
Affirmative (साधारण वाक्य)
- वे यह मैच जीत सकते थे |(जीते नहीं)
- They could have won this match.
- वह यहाँ आ सकता था |(आया नहीं)
- He could have come here.
- आप उसे पढ़ा सकते थे |(पढाये नहीं)
- You could have taught him.
Negative (नकारात्मक वाक्य)

Rule: Subject + could + not + have + V³ + Obj.
वह परीक्षा पास नहीं कर सकता था |(लेकिन पास किया)
He could not have passed the exam.
हम उससे आज नहीं मिल सकते थे |(लेकिन मिले)|
We could not have met him today.
मै यह काम पूरा नहीं कर सकता था |(लेकिन पूरा किया)
I could not have completed this work.

क्या पुलिस उसे गिरफ्तार कर सकती थी ?(नहीं किया)
